Well, whenever I go to the local Japanese bookstore with my friends, Jilly and I do look at the serialized BL-magazines. Of course, at the same bookstore, we try to make one of our other friends aware of the subject matter; unsuccessfully though… still I imagine we’re going to persist. How is this related to bl?

One of the things, I’ve never quite got was the censorship laws in Japan. Yes the Japanese were among the most sexually aware – what with all the pornography, or age of consent, red light districts… etc….

In some magazines, there are various methods on censoring the male parts, things like the invisible manhood, gray parts, or lots of semen, and the subject of this entry… stars or beams of circles (lights) around the penis. I am so distracted, and a bit annoyed, when I see this – I wonder who exactly is the censorship for? The image may have looked funny at the beginning, but for the criticizing part of me, is how can I enjoy the story – if I get distracted by the stars around the man hood. Sure- glorify the male appendage, but it does look strange just staring at the man have stars around it.

I may need to go find a picture that depicts this example, but might be censored against- since it is pretty much 18+ material.
